Designer History: White House Black Market

Wikipedia tells us that, "White House Black Market is an upscale American women's clothing and accessories retailer, founded in 1985 by cofounders Patricia Smith and Richard Sarmiento who opened the first store called The White House in Baltimore, MD. This first store carried only women's clothing in shades of white. In 1991, it began to expand nationally, and in 1995, it launched Black Market, combining the two in 1997." [wikipedia.org]
